It's not about getting more tasks done on our never ending checklists, it's about making sure we're doing the RIGHT tasks.
And that starts by saying no to opportunities that do not completely align with our values and goals. We can't add more minutes to our day and we don't want to simply become more efficient in order to add more tasks.
Instead, we must eliminate the non-essential and that starts with learning to say no.
Use this checklist to assess requests that come your way and to carefully evaluate if your time would be best served elsewhere.
I used to have hard time saying no. I felt every opportunity that came my way deserved a yes, as I worked to grow my private practice. Add in 3 kids, a thriving private practice and several side hustles and I became more and more efficient in tackling my to do lists, which just lead me to burnout. I realized that it isn't about doing more. It's about carefully evaluating what you're saying yes to. We only have 1440 minutes a day and I want to be intentional and mindful of exactly how I am spending those minutes - don't you?
